Masters in quant finance

I see that most (if not all) people in quant research positions in investment banks have masters (or PhDs)...don't think I'll make it/survive in a PhD, so instead, considering doing masters. But, do you guys think masters in quant finance is worth it? The tuition for those programs are just insanely high...

I’ve been PM in my last two roles at top quant/HFT firms. A sentiment shared with other PMs is that typically candidates who have done a MFE are very subpar. At this point, I would likely pass on any resume with a MFE on it.

IMO you would be better off studying math, physics, or computer science.

But why specialize? It doesn’t seem to really have an edge over non quant finance masters programs. Why not do a general masters in CS/math/statistics?
