Got summoned for jury duty even when I’m on H1B - I thought it’s for citizens only? Do I need to show up? Thanks for your inputs. TC 135k
You need to reply and tell them that you aren’t a citizen.
This. The administration in this country is weird sometimes.
This. I had to go online and select an option which said "I am not a citizen". Had to give my national passport number also so they can come verify.
It’s a mistake that you got a summons. Jury service is for citizens only. The summons should contain contact details so that you don’t have to go.
I got it as well in the past. In the letter there must be a number to call. Please call them and let them know about your current status which is H1B visa. They would add a note at their end and cancel it. Doing nothing about it is I guess would not be recommended.
There is a form , I sent it back checking the option that I am not eligible
This happened with me. Solution is to simply contact them over a written mode of communication. The summon that you received has the contact details
Did you get your eb1 I-140 approved usually happens then ... but you should reply and say you aren’t a citizen yet
Where I live, the jury lists are compiled from VOTER REGISTRATION lists. It would be VERY SMART to make sure you are NOT registered to vote when you're on a visa.
Use this letter to claim citizenship. You're welcome!
If you had cared enough to let look behind, you'd see you can be excused if you aren't a citizen. I That said they probably wouldn't know if you sneak in.
I think you need to reply
