Hey guys! Had full time interviews with G before but they got back saying no HC and a few weeks after that got a contract offer? (Non-tech)

Just wondering if going the contract path and then trying conversion is worth leaving a full time job at TikTok. My current skills set of languages is quite hot in demand at the moment so there isn’t a lack of opportunities for sure..I also understand that contract workers are sometimes treated as “2nd class citizens” which could be potentially stifle career growth?

People always say big risk big rewards but.. in the current pandemic situation, that’s kinda scary.

Appreciate any advice/views on the topic!

There is no path towards conversion from contract (TVC) to full time (FTE)

TVCs are unfortunately considered lesser than FTE and job security/benefits/growth is not guaranteed.

TVC to FTE is identical to going from external to FTE.

Dont. I have been in your shoes. G has additional steps in place whenever TVC converts to FTE ( it harder to get converted if you applied while you are a tvc). I was told to quit my tvc, wait got 3 months, then apply for fte for better chance. There's a lot of people fighting for SG roles and chances are the roles will be given to internal transfer. I wont advise to give up your full time job for google contractor.

Not really, and while you can put “Google” on your LinkedIn, you not at par with Googlers or Interns. You access is basic and most company wide initiatives do not include you
