  • It's a title 1 school because in Kingsgate you also have low income households (mostly in Kirkland heights). The school is good. The teachers are good and my kids are definitely happy. We were previously in another 9 rated school in Redmond and I think Muir is much better.

  • What do you define as good ? And from what expectations and perspective? I mean, it is 7/10 lol.

From an affluent family that was Ivy college educated? It’s shit.

From a low income family who never graduated from high school or college? It’s decent.

From a middle class family where maybe one person went to a tier 2-3 college? May or may not be okay.

How do you evaluate elementary schools? Or is this based on your exp living here a number of years?

Websites have test scores, teacher tenure, student mix, etc. But also just word of mouth from your older coworkers who have kids and first hand info.

  • We are near Juanita Elem (similar rating). We were hoping with gentrification that the numbers improve but we don’t know if that’ll happen in time. Our kid is 2 but we’re planning on private school if they don’t get into LWSDs the gifted/choice program.
