Recently, I had a few conversations about the ethics of companies. For example, folks comparing Amazon to Walmart and the like. Please list one company that, in your opinion, has a clear karma record and one that should rot in hell?
Clear karma: none Rot in hell: Amazon, Netflix, Uber
This is not what karma means
Please define (your version) karma? Here’s mine: Karma is the executed "deed", "work", "action", or "act", and it is also the "object", the "intent".
I’ll defer to the dictionary on this one.
Good: Apple Bad: Facebook, Google + all stealthy data sucking, privacy-destroying, manipulative ad tech companies Bad: Zynga, EA + all the game companies that prey on kids with micro transactions and psychological manipulation)
Apple good???
Apple good!!!
LinkedIn adds a lot of good karma value. Sonos, Medium, Apple. Microsoft is a good corporate citizen these days, though many will disagree.
How has Microsoft impressed you?
Primarily corporate giving and matching employees charitable contributions to $25,000 per year (I believe that’s the right number), working with the community on growth, good benefits package. For customers, creating value for the users of the product. I’m torn on Xbox. Not big on in-game transactions that hook kids.
Good: Salesforce - first company to do 1:1:1 model Bad: Oracle - just read their anti-open source stance they esposed here: https://github.com/GSA/modernization/issues/41
Uber is on a whole other level. Let’s all agree that Uber is the GOAT of shitty tech companies. Any debate is really about #2.
I switched to Lyft and deleted Uber
Clear Karma: LinkedIn , Rot in Hell: Amazon ( Trump is actually making Amazon’s life hell though )
How in particular is trump affecting amazon?
Apple
Good? Bad?
It should be obvious
