Anyone know the culture and potential of keeptruckin? With self driving trucks, Uber freight and Convoy already moving full steam ahead, does keeptruckin have a shot? #equity #startup

  • I joined late 2018 and still here. Yes, there were decisions which we all didn’t like. Much like Airbnb and most other companies during covid. People didn’t know how to react to covid. But growth has been phenomenal during covid times. Should have a good ipo.

    • two layoffs within 2 months is not coincidence. First one was before covid. Please don't blame second one on covid.

    • First decision close brokerage business. It was a very good decision and employees were treated really well. They had the option to move. Some decided not to. Not really layoffs.

Second one was the real layoff due to covid. Covid is something no business folks have experienced with. Very minimal impact on engineering.

  • Unfortunately, the ex-employees can only speak of the past and not of the future. no startup is without risk, so it’s understandable what ex-employees are saying here
Couple of things for you to think:
    - Growth post pandemic has been outstanding.
    - they are hiring rapidly, and have become cognizant on who they are hiring.
    - this space is quite untapped, few competitors, but the whole space is growing rapidly. Several big companies will be born in this space. It does feel like Keeptruckin has a fair shot to be one.

  • a former KT employee here. its a late stage start up. KT has an advantage of having exclusive access to a big fleet of trucks via eld. Uber Freight do not have it . I wont be surprised if they get acquired by Uber freight (or someone in similar situation)

they are little bit tricky on financial side. they did quite a bit of lay off last year and cutting salaries. they also closed down entire freight business. I am nkt sure if they are going to raise another round soon.

If they go public its good for employees, but if they get acquired it will be different deal.

culture wise it’s mostly folks from india. A little bit of politics but nothing which bothered me. its a RoR and golang shop.

  • Very good company to come and learn. But if you are afraid of layoffs do not enter.
As a company it has potential - for shareholders in long term and for employees in short term.
