All health insurance companies are not greedy. I've worked in HC most of my career with payers and providers. There is plenty of blame to go around.
I respectfully disagree - I do think it’s the payers and providers greed that is causing a great deal of the issues today.
@HP No, it’s entirely the government’s fault. By half-assedly subsidizing demand, they caused prices to surge. It’s the same thing you see with higher education, government intervention always results in higher prices.

What are they doing that Kaiser aren’t? I think Kaiser’s HMO model is the best in the long term for affordable heathcare
Kaiser care is great only if you don't use it. Want to see a specialist? Sorry 2 months. Can I choose a specialist? No way! Pick from this curated list of 1 in network providers[sic.]
Anecdotally I never had to wait for a specialist more than 2 weeks(the last time I visited Kaiser was before covid) European countries like Denmark or Netherlands arguably have the best universal healthcare. And the problems of waiting for a specialist are well known. That’s a downside of a universal and affordable healthcare. This is when people decide if they want to pay extra for a private insurance
I wouldn’t say they’re corrupt and greedy, but no, don’t think Oscar by itself will change the industry. Member count is too low to have large impact and a seat at the table. Switching health insurance is stressful for people and something they’d rather avoid. Will take a loooong time before Oscar makes the change it set out to
