L3 -> L4 Uplevel Interviews at Google

I recently had my virtual onsite interviews with Google. My recruiter said I did very well and asked if I wanted to do two more interviews to uplevel to L4. They said that if I don't do well it won't hurt my chances for L3. I was just wondering whether this was accurate for people's experience here - just trying to accurately guage the worst possible scenario here.

  • Hi OP could you please share some interview strategies? And what was your preparation like? Would be really helpful considering you must have really nailed the interview to cause google to uplevel.

      Nah, it's just luck. Many times, Google asks questions straight from Leetcode.
      If you have solved them before, you will do with ease on the interview day and get good ratings.

      @stalkerr facts. I feel like their harder questions come from leetcode based on my 1 onsite. After the interview I tried to review what I thought was hard and found it on leetcode verbatim.

    If I were you, I will take it in a heartbeat. They would only give that option when the candidate has literally crushed the interviews for lower level. Yes, there is an outside chance that you may not get any offer if you don’t do well but think fo the other scenario when you decline the opportunity and join L3. Then, when you get in you find that you are well above the other L3’s but can’t really get the promo for atleast 1-2 years..as internal promotion is a whole diff game

      Not to mention the impression it leaves on your HM that you didn’t take the opportunity presented to you - playing too safe..

    Unless you do something outrageous like insulting the interviewer or go on a racists/sexist/etc. rant you should be fine even if you fail the interviews miserably
