So, I recently completed a boot-camp at General Assembly last year in July 2021, and I am still job searching trying to get in the door of Software Engineering. I have B.S. in Comp. Sci. since 2013. Any advice from the Blind community, what do you think I'm doing wrong, lacking, missing, etc. Any advice would be appreciated, even constructive criticism is welcomed. #engineering #swe

Junior market is over saturated with people looking for work. The only way to crack is it with numbers. Just keep mass applying.

If you’re getting interviews, then prep for them. If you’re not, build projects, rewrite resume and mass apply.

Also list open source projects as if it’s paid work. Lots of other boot camp graduates do it. The point is to get you hired, not to be a saint

Hacker news monthly hiring threads. Or anything that is more than an online application system where you get autofiltered.

  • The reason bootcamps help people get jobs is because they force you to do personal projects demonstrating your skills. If you don’t have swe experience then you should have strong projects on your resume. Best chance of getting hired as a swe is at startups.

Just curious why a boot camp would be necessary after a CS degree?

Thought it would open doors for me because it was more structured then me doing self-taught and not knowing what to do next. Also having connections within the bootcamp.
