Any tips for the interview. Bought a few resources. I’ve interviewed before but I have much experience now. Are metrics and results truly required with every LP question?
Focus on behavioral and situational type of interviews and make sure you form your answers according to LP, and yes when you explain your reasonings for metrics choice, you need to loop them back to LP one way or the other
Thank you for the reply. So when you have something that you did but was not metrics based, what do you do? For example “name a time a customer wanted something that didn’t fit with the product or would be prioritized, what did you do?” Normally I would say something like “ In this xyz situation, I understand their requirements, balanced against company goals, and communicate back to them that the item would not be done but revisited in the future etc” “understanding and communication led to them being satisfied and trusting me in the future etc” there are no metrics for this answer. I could find another example with metrics, but possibly not every time
Well pretty much every story can be framed with LPs. For your example, you can mention two LPs, say customer obsession(arguably most important one), and frugality. Say your priority is to delight customer so explain different workarounds youve thought or done to get over the practical obstacles, and the factors youve considered to make the product decision, and their downstream impacts, etc.
That’s a great point about 2 LPs, hadn’t thought about doing it like that. In your example did you add metrics to this answer or mainly the result of the actions
I agree your example wont have too much obvious metrics, but an instant red flag will be raised if you imply you made decisions without any data point and lack of metric you used to measure the impact of your decision. Say something like number of call center contacts related to that issue/number of active users for corresponding period and how that has changed after, something like that
What resources did you buy?
AWS?
Bought the interviewjoy list of questions, reviewing decode and conquer again, reading product leadership and reviewing some PM webinar to remember all my terms
