L6 offer at Amazon

I got an offer for L6 program manager (managing a team) in Amazon Seattle. About 220K in first year including base of 150K, sign on bonus of 65K and 80 RSUs. The bonus in 2nd year is 20K lower. This was way lower than I expected and a significant drop from my Google Bay area salary. Is this the normal range in Seattle?

Did you negotiate?

I had couple of discussions with the recruiter, but they said this was the max allocation for this role and level. And that this was the final offer.

Why to leave Google? You won’t get any refreshers, wlb is different.

1. Move to Seattle for affordable home ownership 2. I thought Google + Amazon looks better on the resume and will offer more development for me than just Google for 10 years.

Seems kinda low... I think you could get higher.

Wow thats low I have an SDE1 offer in that range though in the Bay.

SDEs earn more than program managers. It's normal.

Edit: just saw the PM part. Please disregard my comment If you want to move to Seattle then why don’t you just transfer to Google Seattle, Kirkland or Bellevue? And tbh Amazon after Google looks like a step back unless you are leveling up. So it doesn’t immediately look good on resume. And regarding TC this is an extremely low offer (assuming SWE). L6 range is $250k-$380k in Seattle. Looks like the recruiter is assuming you are being PIPed out

What is “PIPed out?”

Google Drunk 🥴 Dec 27, 2019

A PIP (performance improvement plan) for low performers who are being managed out.

This is top of band for non-SDE role in Seattle
