I was handed the pip plan. I need to decide on taking pip or severance. I already have an offer from startup that i like and going forward with it. My H1B is complicating things for me and looking for guidance
1. Should i take severance and leave amazon. Accept my new offer and go thtough H1B transfer while being out.
2. Take PIP. Put in the work till my H1B transfer is complete and then resign.
$$ is not a concern. Don't have energy to go through PIP after the dev plan but will do if this is the right option. Please advise

Update: i took pip to buy some time. The background check and filing is taking quite a bit of time. They are yet to file my H1b. Im planning to leave as soon as i get H1b receipt notice. Also pip is brutal. Im putting in long hours with 0 interest on work, making it much harder.
Update-2: i left shortly after being in pip for a week. i got green signal from my new employer and joining them on H1B receipt. I got reduced severance but I'm finally happy coming out of that torture.

OP posted here because he/she is trying to find a safe path and giving advice that has risks involved is not in the best interest for OP.
OP if I were you I would just stick little longer in PIP and wait until the transfer is confirmed before jumping ship.
Considering immigration a lot is unknown and other peoples experiences cannot serve as a good basis for anybody else’s exp.
Choosing a safer option reduces the possibility of future immigration issues is what I believe.
