Got an offer for prod manager at a tech firm in Los Angeles, CA. - Yearly comp: $130k - Bonus: 7% of yearly comp - Unlimited PTO - 401k Match - Great health benefits and WL balance Any thoughts on the offer? I’m relocating from NY area so this would be a huge change. Want to understand how’s the cost of living, etc
Its a good offer for LA and for Prod Manager. Most Prod Manager roles pay 150 for sr managers average. Or else you work for goolge fb or the high paying firms outside of that its a good offer. Only thing i see that looks bad is the yearly bonus. 7% is too low. Try to negotiate a higher bonus, if they refuse tell them to up the base to 140k, although a base increase would be hard to get for a regular prod manager role.
Not bad for LA. LA is prob less expensive than NYC since there are many neighborhoods with varying rents. You need a car though so consider that cost. Weather and things to do is amazing ofcourse
Thanks everyone for the great feedback...too tired of the freezing cold, east coast winters are terrible...I have a follow up call with them next week so will keep you all posted. Will see if I can negotiate a sign on bonus.
yoe? which part of LA is the office in?
1st congratulations, you’ll enjoy LA immensely, it’s a beautiful city with beautiful weather. 2nd commute and traffic in general here sucks, so don’t listen to advices of leasing in deep east side, find a place as close as you can, that’s the key to live happy life in LA. Trust me, commuting for 2-4h every day would make anyone miserable. You can earn more money but can’t take your wasted time back. 3rd You will NEED a car. $130k is enough to live here if you’re smart about your spending. But I would try to negotiate for more.
Hello hello friends, just wanted to share some good news that they were able to bump up the offer to 140k and the annual bonus to 10%, also helping out with Relo...super excited to move to sunny LA and say goodbye to harsh east coast winters. Cheers!!
Congrats and best of luck in your new role!
Right on the money. Congratulations
Run.
