LC? TC? Facebook Reality Labs

TC: 320, 8 YOE, 5 years at apple, 2 years at AMD, 1 year small company doing simulation. I am been doing GPU algorithms for upcoming GPU features.. Good knowledge in real time algorithms, GPU architecture, and some ray tracing. Do I need to LC for this type position at Facebook or Google? does anyone can give any insight about these teams and the interview process? Facebook: Graphics Engineer AR/VR, LA and Menlo Park Software Engineer - Graphics, Redmond Google: Software Engineer, Graphics and Rendering, Google Earth Software Engineer, Graphics Finally any TC expectation? Thank you!

What’s your current location?

Austin, but I am willing to move to do the change.

Yes you need LC. I was contacted by FB recruiter for same role. I asked it to her and she told that irrespective of the position, you have to go through the process pipeline. I don’t have that kind of time to prepare LC, so I rejected the position.

This is really stupid, and shows how the interview process is so broken for this types of positions... I am in the same boat as you don't have time to do LC, so I probably won't even trying... You can learn LC in one month give it or take, but you won't learn GPU's or real time algorithms in less than a year. Hopefully, someone that is already working in these teams could give their experience in the interview process.

Ya that’s what I told the recruiter, but guess they just follow the process. It’s same with google and so I was like fcking I don’t care as I am enjoying my work with AMD. Now whenever any recruiter contacts me for a position , I always ask if the process is robotic with LC and I reject the position if they have a similar process. I was considering Apple but haven’t yet contacted anyone . Why you wanna move from Apple?

I have a virtual onsite scheduled for the same role. I was also contacted by apple recruiter for GPU SWE engineer role. Would love to discuss the process if the author is available. Thanks.
