Should I take time off leetcode, because i feel like I have reached a plateau. 200+ problems in around 50 days and I feel burnt out and hating coding. Does this happen to others? I have serveral onsites coming up but I do well on my mocks but self sabatoge saying I am not good enough for this company.. Student, TC-Intern at qualcomm
I did that at an onsite, did exceptionally well in all the rounds, but sold myself short by saying I had a lot to learn at the new place as my current experience was not good enough(something to that effect). I got an offer but they low balled me on the designation and package based on my eoy. Luckily I had a counter offer and I didn’t make this mistake in my second onsite. Ended up with the right leveling and package at the second place, although I would have loved to work at the first place more. What I realized was it is not about the LCs alone, although they are important. You need to take some time out to build some confidence in yourself and don’t ever sell yourself short. If you feel you are not good enough, it shows a learner’s attitude and humility which is a rarity in today’s corporate world. You are going to be an asset to any team and you should be the first one to realize this. Stay humble but don’t bend over backwards. You are better than you think, just believe in yourself. What helped me was the thought that in all likelihood I will never run into my interviewers again even while doing groceries, so I have nothing to lose but a lot to gain by allaying my unfounded fears. Interviews are not the time to reflect.. they are the time to be the best version of yourself. So be that, don’t let anything come in the way.. good luck!
Absolutely - for me about a month and a half in - it completely worn its welcome and from being excited to put in 1.5-2 hours a day it became a real drag with no focus Luckily it was perfect timing to the peak of on sites I had and I was sharp Timebox it and decide to try to get the onsites at the peak Not easy to plan but it is what it is I really don’t understand the flex / lure of people doing more then that I love developing - but this is literally ds homework. And at some point when you see the patterns and the ds and algorithms pop and your able to implement them easily - just move to maintenance mode and use lc premium per company to see top 50 questions before onsites
It's definitely ok to take a break if you need to. This is a marathon not a sprint. Mental health is important.
