CokeAddict must be a spurned manager with a low connections score, weak on the ownership LP, and unwilling to take any responsibility for the culture he created on his own team.
On LinkedIn people write "I am happy to announce that I will be joining Amazon" but are they really?
I think I should create a poll.
1. Lots of people on Visa transfer from India to US around a 2 year timeline.
2. Visa makes them bind to Amazon. They can either work for Amazon or go back to their home country. I know many of my friends moved here around 2 year mark and waiting at Amazon for avg of 3 years to get picked in H1B visa.
3. As we come from a different country, don't know the culture and inherent fear makes us stick with Amazon for 1.5 to 2 years to avoid risk.
4. In any company, not all the teams are bad, though the majority of Amazon is bad, some managers provide the best experience to engineers that make them stick around.
By the way I moved to Amazon US just after my 2 year mark, and still with Amazon, completed 6 years. Now looking to leave.
