How do people get so many referals?

I always see posts on here about people who get a million offers from every FAANG company. How do you even get those interviews? Amazon is easy because their recruiters spam every engineer on the planet. But what about all the other FAANG companies? Do you just apply and hope they reach out to you? I'm going through intense interview prep right now and I want to set up a bunch of interviews around August. #faang #interview
