Advice needed.

22 M with 20LPA package out of college.
I have 7 months FTE experience.

But the company which I'm working didn't provide much training and expected me to perform tasks, which I've been kinda getting through without much understanding how it works and I think I'm fairly weak in major concepts of Dev as I didn't really learn much during the time which I was asked to learn. So I stay in the edge all the time thinking how I'm bad and not able work at all and also fear that I'll be kicked out soon.

But I don't want to work here anymore because I can't ask more time to learn nor do I wanna stay here as I want to start afresh.

I can confidentially say that I'm strong in DSA bcz of which I could bag this offer but weak in backend development.
I want to change to another job but I fear that they'll expect me to have strong fundamentals in Backend Dev if I'll be looking for packages in the same pay range.

I'm planning to quit working here and I've been doing LC from past 2 months again and take a 2 month break and apply to jobs and start afresh?
Will the gap affect my chances? How should I proceed? Or other do face the same issue?

But I don't want to stay in this company though.

  • Just start interviewing alongside your job. Entry level roles are few so you will need some patience, so taking a break prematurely might not work out well.

This doesn't make any sense. How are entry level roles few? If anything, those are the major chunk of roles companies offer😆

@amazon U see there is always hiring going on for senior folks with atleast 1-2 YoE, but for <1 YoE, sde1s are mostly hired through oncampus only in most companies except amazon.

Its very very common for freshers to feel the same thing. If you are genuinely interested to learn development, then continue working on the same project at your current company. One don't learn anything about the system in a few months, it takes more than 12 months to actually understand a complicated system and how things work. Even if you join a new firm and start to learn there, you would need alot more time to learn the development lifecycle. Its common for freshers to feel this way. Talk to senior devs on your team, read the design docs of your project, attend all the X/Y/Z design meetings on your calendar.
