Does anyone know how Google would feel about me working as a contractor for my previous employer after hours or weekends? It won't interfere with my regular day job but hey why not make extra cash and help my old team?

They'll love it, you should make sure to tell everyone.

If you feel brave, suggest the same to your spouse and your ex.

    Two problems
    1. .Unless you are getting paid by-the-hour from Google, it'll be problematic to define what constitutes 'after hours.'
    2. Your contract may have restrictions on what activities you can engage for pay.

Yelp has a moonlighting policy that I have seen used by multiple people successfully, in our case it usually entails not working for a competitor or the same job function, never during the normal workweek and working hours and must notify the moonlighting email group (just goes to HR, I assume). Never heard of someone getting turned down, I have to assume Google has a similar policy. TBH if it’s truly only weekends you could almost certainly get away with just not saying anything.
