Does having Microsoft on resume attract Tier 1 recruiters?

For Context: I have zero understanding on this as I’m not a recruiter and I’m not trying to offend anyone, so please do not take offense at all whatsoever especially if you work at Microsoft!!!

So - I have historically worked at companies like Netflix/Slack which usually has a decent eng culture and uses fairly open tool sets (or at least used to). This has meant that usually when applying or talking to “top tier” (FAANG or hedge funds or better) recruiters I at least am able to have that initial phone talk. (Whether I pass their interview is a different story)

However, recently I’ve just kind of gotten tired of coding so I ended up just interviewing around and got an offer with Microsoft (which I’m happy about because the ppl seemed really nice). I already have 7 yoe fyi

My question is - would this make recruiters not want to talk to me anymore?

For example, I know I have always been able to get an initial phone screen with almost all the top companies like Jane Street, Google, Robinhood... etc. but I’m wondering if recruiters will start questioning this decision and then I’m permanently banned entry???

You usually only need one tier 1 brand on your resume. The idea is that it is a signal to the recruiter to say you are smart enough to have cleared the interview and worked at of one of these companies. This will make their case to the hiring manager stronger

And yes, MSFT is a strong tier 1 brand especially in the last 5 years

I have 3 different T1 brands (literally since I started working in 2012), so I’m not super worried about history. In fact, I even have gap years (travel the world) between jobs and usually it just ends up being a fun story ppl always ask me about!!

Thanks, this is kinda reassuring. I was worried because their offer is literally half of what I was making at some of the other places

      It’s a nice aspiration :)

Did you feel that quant shops had far stricter entry bar? I’ve spoken with some that asked for my freaking GPA in college... I didn’t even know that was relevant

I was precisely scared for this stigma/mindset ^ like I definitely know that not everyone thinks that way. For example, if I were a recruiter, I actually would open the doors to even self taught programmers who maybe never went to high school. (Because I have met so many geniuses who turned out to be self taught)

But I know that some ppl only filter based on the college the candidate went to. So I was worried about that
