Got an offer from Twitch (not the Amazon part of Twitch) and am entering the host-matching stage for Google. Both of these companies are places I could see myself working at full-time in the future (even if it's not new grad) so accepting both and reneging later isn't something I want to do. This is going to be my last internship so I'm mainly thinking about how these compare for new grad. I have a feeling this poll will heavily skew towards Google, but at this point I'm 50/50. Twitch Pros: - I feel like I'm a really good culture fit - Out of all tech companies, this product is the one I'm most interested in - SF office seems like a really cool experience Twitch Cons: - Amazon payment structure - I've heard your experience is highly dependent on your team - Less resume value/name recognition Google Pros: - Better resume value/name recognition - Better comp Google Cons: - Haven't been matched yet (so I'll have another 1-2 months of stressing) - Could get matched to a product I'm not interested in - I feel like I may have an opportunity to work here again sometime in the distant future, I don't know if the same opportunity will come around for Twitch again TC: $6.5K #twitch #google #swe
It's about time to drop that resume recognition bs. Go to twitch unless you want google return offer
Unless they ditched conversion interviews not worth.
brand is honestly useless after a certain threshold, 'tier 2' top tech companies get just as much notice as google. It's more about what you did there at this company, what will you learn sound like you shld go to twitch (ignore the poll, because too many simply vote for google just because)
Uh... "Not the Amazon part of Twitch". You should read a bit more about twitch... Lol.
Google internships suck. Go to twitch. If you want you can get a Google offer after. Or both, at worst.
Why do they suck
Not guaranteed offer, not great TC, projects sometimes lame….
