Layoff in Booking.com

I saw a post in slack workspace in the morning, one guy saying his contract has been terminated by his manager. I didn’t take it seriously but now it seems his slack and workplace account is disabled. This is a very sad news to break in public. What happened and why? TC -125k YOE - 5+

Contractors usually let go first. That's why they hire contractors. One person is not enough to make any conclusions though.

Correct. I think there is some back story that we don’t know.

Wayfair BlueCouch Mar 23, 2022

Are you trying to be first to "break some news" this time? Coz it really sounds like you're making a single contract termination sound like apocalypse.

Looking at the thread he started on Reddit it seems like he only completed half his virtual onboarding courses within the allotted time. You can read it for yourself here: https://old.reddit.com/r/Netherlands/comments/tkwndb/got_my_employee_contract_terminated_by_bookingcom/

Not sure he realizes the only one he's damaging with all this public outrage is himself.

Contractors are cut everyday for no reason, it’s part of the risk of being a contractor. Not really seeing why this was even posted.

Not a contractor but was fired during the probationary period

Time to accept your fate, change your blind username and start fresh again. AMS9 has been tainted by this post…
