With $SNAP in the toilet it may be time to jump ship. Which companies are still hiring, layoff-safe and have high comp? - google - Apple - tiktok - Amazon - Bloomberg
Remove TikTok
Why
Amazon, imagine how much more time people are gonna spend on tiktok when they're unemployed because of a recession
Bloomberg and TikTok are not publicly traded, Google is always great regardless
That's why they have been getting away with lowball offers and downlevels. People still get in line. No thank you
Bloomberg is pretty layoff safe which is one of the reasons I stuck around during the pandemic. Avg comp but all in cash, so it's guaranteed.
How are the interviews? I'm reading people are asked LC Hard on phonescreens
I have never seen an LC hard but obviously depends on who you get. I think there's more emphasis on communication and behavioral portion of it. Not big on tricks or gotchas, pretty straightforward.
BB is invincible but you're not going to make as much as you would from those other companies
$BB - BlackBerry 🤔?
SDE2 TC? Remote?
When was the last time Apple had layoff?
The scale wasn't quite as big but using Google I found several articles about 3 digit Apple layoffs (a few rounds, targeting office by office) during the 2008 recession. Sounds like they're better than most public tech companies, but not perfect.
With their supply chain issues I would worry about them
Snap’s still hiring 500 people by EOY, why you worried chill. Nothing’s going to happen!

No company is lay-off safe. You need to make yourself lay-off safe. Get some seniority and work hard to make yourself irreplaceable. Or at least a strong contributor.
This is ^gem. If a recession hits making a move right now you are putting yourself in a deeper trouble. Rather you need to be at a place where you have earned trust from leadership. Every company will do a layoff if things go south even Amazon
Lay off is not performance based for variety of reasons. You should try to go to a team that will be safe from layoff (eg fast growing team that impacts company’s bottom line).
Capital One
Microsoft
LOLOL. Everyone seems to forget about MSFT 09 and pretty much small scale layoffs every now and then
They are still much better positioned than most tech companies to weather a recession
