Layoffs at Oracle and McAfee
How frequent are Layoffs at Oracle and Mcafee? Do they let people know in advance so that people can look for another gig or is it sudden? I have offers from Oracle, McAfee, and Zscaler. I like the team and the work at Oracle and McAfee but i am a little worried about the Layoffs. At McAfee I would basically be joining the Skyhigh Networks team. Skyhigh Networks was recently acquired by Mcafee. At Oracle i would be part of their Cloud security team. I am leaning towards Zscaler for the stability and TC although the TC at McAfee and Oracle is also +~40% my current TC.
I have heard good things about Zscaler...you might want to consider that too.

Oracle has been cutting most teams to the bone for years now. In most cases, no warning at all beyond the “no one is safe”. Not the place to work if job security is a priority.

We have layoffs every year. in our team someone calls (usually the manager) in the morning to let the person know that his last paycheck will be in the mail that day with papers to sign and instructions. look into Oracle's public financial statement they always have a budget for RIFs severance pay.
Why would you even consider McAfee. They do not offer any stocks unless you are a senior director or above

Every June 1 heads roll and throughout the year for cost cutting measures
I worked with a guy at oracle pe&o who received a call and was told that it was his last day and to grab his personal belongings on the way out the door. And...he had worked at oracle for over ten years and there was no shortage of work in his dept. I was told later it was a cost cutting measure.
That’s horrible!
This is not uncommon at Oracle AT ALL.
