Looking to get into product management at Amazon, Netflix or Google in san fran bay area. Have been in product management for 14 years for embedded software/hardware products, software as a service products, and software on android and windows devices for aviation and defense industry. Would appreciate some feedback on my resume and where in those companies I would be a good fit considering my prior experience has not been consumer internet. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

You got 14 years of experience, meaning you are looking for a Director role or above making lots of impacts and have been driving plenty of product success already at GE. Can’t imagine you need much help other than are you a change agent currently? And can you be a change agent at a company like Google, Amazon, Netflix? It will be hard for these companies to hire someone that senior without having any impact on change to the org, the culture, the vision of a business unit or product org.

It is hard to pass interviews since so many case questions are based on consumer internet / app products.

Have not seen much success from hardware pm. Few that were interesting were in IOT, but that was even a stretch.

I've seen more variety from Amazon on PM hires. They range anywhere from search engine to more business unit manager.

There are hardware roles in Lab126 for PM. Maybe you can start there?

Expect AMZN to downlevel you 1 or 2 rungs on the ladder, but total comp will more than make up for the temporary ego freeze.
