Leadership principles are a tool for amazon to exploit its employees.

"And so, my fellow Amazonians: ask not what your company can do for you—ask what you can do for your company."

We would give you the shittiest benefits that a FAANG can offer but we would expect you to go out of your way to give every ounce of your blood & sweat for this company.

Not a single point in there mentions how a leader should be taking care of its followers/employees but every single point in there is asking employees to go out of their way. Any company would love for its employees to adhere to these principles. On top of that they vest their stocks in a manner (5, 15, 40, 40) so that they can force you to be there for atleast 2-3 years.

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for Amazon engineering but I would, every single day, prefer being an Amazon customer over being an Amazon employee. #amazon #rant

  • Amazon is an extremely exploitative company. Their bad reputation of churn and burn is well deserved, and comes straight from the top from Bezos himself.

No shit. It’s corporate culture propaganda at its absolute worst. It’s brainwashing people into believing they have to go above and beyond for a company that takes in billions year after year and will throw you out on the street in a heartbeat. It’s manipulative at best, exploitative at worst.

It's corporate culture that actually works. Amazon is extremely decentralized where pretty much everyone I5+ operates independently. The LP's set the ground rules that enable people to reach out and collaborate with one another without needing to align their VP's first.

They aren't things that would work in another company, but in this company they give you a play book that enables you to get shit done fast.
