Leave company after only three weeks?
I had to take this offer because of visa issues with my previous employer. I wanted to just get out of there so I took the very first offer I received without thinking much. Since day 1 at the new job, all I hear and see is attrition at this company and realized I joined a leaky boat. The tech stack and benefits are okay, but there is a constant fear of layoffs since the company is not doing good financially. So, questions I have: 1. Should I start interviewing? 2. Should I put this new job on my resume? 3. If I do, how should I justify leaving within 3 weeks? Fellow blinders, really appreciate your advice here. Tc 150k/5yoe
Whether you put this on the resume or not is really dependent on how soon you think you can find another job and how long it has been since you left your other employer. I am in the same situation where I took the first best job because I needed a job after a layoff and had a visa condition of finding something ASAP or leaving the country. I've been in my new job for a few months, but planning to leave after I complete 6 months or so. I will be putting it on my resume and explaining, with honesty, why I'm looking to leave.

In your case, it looks like you are planning to stick around for 6 months and then start applying. However, if I start applying now, should I even add my current company to my resume since it’s been only 3 weeks?
OP, you don't have to. I have a gap of 2 months in my resume and it was because I was looking for jobs. So you can not include and say you're looking. But will the Visa transfer require you to fill out your current employer name? You can't omit details on visa application. So be careful with that
If I were in your position I would not put it on my resume unless I did something extraordinary in that short period of time. As a general tip, you don't have to put everything on your resume. Your resume is your chance to highlight your career. Share what you are proud of and think the employer needs to know about you, which might make you suitable for the job you are applying for.
Your new employer who files for H1B would need the previous employment record, right?
The resume you use for a job interview vs the resume you use for immigration purposes need not be the same. On the resume you use for immigration you will be going in a lot more detail and it's not a concise resume. They serve different purposes

Do you have a back up? If not quitting doesnt make any sense. Is this your 2nd company of professional career?
