Been a new grad SWE at Qualcomm for about 8 months, but don’t really enjoy the work at all. I really want to move to a SaaS company, but don’t know if I should leave for a new company now or stay for the next 4 months to let me benefits vest / get 1 YOE officially.
Here’s the big issue: my WFH ends in July but my 1 yoe will be August, so I’ll need to move down to SD to work the last 1-2 months of my job while I job hunt. However, if I’m planning on leaving within 2 months, I’m not sure how moving down there, just to move elsewhere will work?
Any advice? :(

If you ignore that, at least in the first two months after office reopens, generally the managers and lead would be flexible.. They all know that we have been working fine for over one year and two more months wouldn’t hurt. If not, you can ask them for a couple of months of extension proactively.. generally they go through the vp and mostly accept it.
If nothing works out, fly to San Diego once a week, enjoy the beach, show your face to the team and go back home!
I’m guessing you left by now?
Also, Could 1 YOE actually hurt me? I feel like getting a new grad role would actually be easier (in which case I should start looking now)?
Get offer and leave at 11m/1 yoe. Temporary housing for 1m in SD.
