Hi all, I am considering a(n attempt to) move to Google. After seeing comp levels (SDE II) on levels.fyi, it feels like I'm throwing away a lot of money by staying at Amazon. But I think I'm also about 2 years away from a promotion. At the same time, a recession seems imminent. I wouldn't want to have only 1-2 years tenure if the economy tanks and layoffs occur. TC 200, 6 yoe (all @amazon), SDE II. PS, I heard that most SDEs at Google did not pass their first round of interviews. Might be good to interview soon and get that first failed interview out of the way if that's the case? (Obviously, prepare, though)
Hiring is hot right now. Waiting could have you transfer in a down market meaning you have no leverage.
That's a really good point to think about. I didn't realize it was in high demand right now. I should get more serious about it.

This.
Also 200 for 6yoe looks unusually low.
