Leave the company directly over mail?

I need to resign from my current company tomorrow as I have got a much better offer but I am not sure if I really need to talk to my manager before resigning. I am leaving at a bad time where he is under a lot of pressure to hire and build a working team. He is also kind of a shady person and what if he decides to screw me up by firing me after our conversation and before I send my rejection mail. This will mess up last date proof submission for previous employment at my next org right? Should I send my rejection directly on mail and then have a conversation with him? I am not very good at saying no and he is very persistent in nature. I've only joined Oracle 2 months back. Edit: We have a mandatory 1 month notice period after resigning in my country. So I will serve that if they want me to and I will mention it in the mail.

Resigning with 1 days notice? Cold.

That’s super inconsiderate. You’ll be blacklisted and you should hope that companies you apply for in the future don’t call your current employer to ask about you.

If you can’t give two weeks notice, at least have the decency to resign in person. Then send the email.

We have a mandatory 1 month notice period in my country enforceable by the contract which I will serve if they want me to

Only thing is email will give me a proof that I resigned first and wasn't fired if he decides to play dirty.

OP, send the email, do the 1 month notice and move on. Congrats on the new offer!

Send the email right as you are sitting down with your boss

Why is the last date of employment proof so important? So what if he fires you on the spot?

Oracle LBqg20 OP Jan 6, 2020

Won't most companies need your service letter from previous employer to make sure you didn't abandon your last job unlawfully.

Facebook gfg101 Jan 6, 2020

Hmm what would an unlawful employment look like? You can get a letter stating your employment today if you want (for example if you need proof to rent an apartment or something)

OP, make sure you send an email at least and also bcc to your personal email as proof

Have the email draft ready, saved up on your phone, with him in To: & cc: HR. Talk to him, and as soon as you finish talking, press the send button. This way, he didn't have a chance to fire you or screw you over in any way. By the way, while it's not the best to resign with no notice, your company can do the same to you (at will employment) aka laying you off without any reason what so ever. It's a business relationship, which is a 2 way street. You should not hesitate to do the same. Except, if you give notice, you are just being nice to your boss & colleague on a personal level, which is a kind going to do.
