I loved it initially. Then I needed discipline, rigorous because my mind needed outcome. A better job. When failed, I lost interest and then after a year I realized seriously itโs like daily exercise.
I tell you what .. we get success when we are not too focused on the outcome, but on the process. And we start to enjoy. I know I am nobody to preach on this as I get peanuts but success is all about preparation + luck. I am positive that whatever I am learning one day it would pay off. Right now I just need to keep practicing and improve my skills to crack an interview at a better place.
I came to the same realization. Yes, like daily exercise. Thatโs why Iโm trying to turn it into a habit myself. I also failed and lost interest and it was so hard to get back into. Now I will try to never miss more than 2 days in a row because thatโs when I start slipping. Thanks for your insight and best of luck!
I feel like my prep strategy isn't really efficient. I had to do 1000+ because I am not smart enough. I would say get a list of all possible topics and make sure you know all of them very well. (For example, you should be able to implement DisjointSet or Trie template in like a minute). Also, redoing problems is very important. Keep a list of problems that you weren't able to solve initially and revisit after 1-2 days. Repeat that until you feel super comfortable with it.
Do 2-3 new questions daily and 2-3 redos (4-6 daily). Also, participate in the LC weekly contest on Staurdays. It resembles the current interview trend because it uses the problems that people posted on the LC discussion board. LC curates those questions and uses them in the contests.
