Seems like if you want to go to a company with legit TC (as in RSUs or will go public soon) and exciting work / good engineering culture, these are the most common ones: rideshare (Uber, Lyft) food delivery (Doordash, GrubHub, Postmates, Instacart) payments/personal finance (Stripe, Square, Chime, Plaid) personal investment (Robinhood, Coinbase) social media (TikTok, Pinterest, Snap) enterprise tools (Asana, Airtable, Atlassian) enterprise data stuff (Snowflake, Databricks) real estate (AirBnB, Zillow, RedFin, maybe Compass??) What else is this list missing? This is sort of general because there are lots of household names that are prestigious companies but idk how good they are for TC, or they don't seem as hot anymore. (Dropbox, Autodesk, Coursera, etc.) Or are prestigious but might not have great culture (Tesla, SpaceX). Or are NYC HFT companies (Jane Street, Citadel, Two Sigma).
Post mates was sold. You missed all the lending companies. Asana seems questionable to be listed
Oh true, good point about lending companies.
You missed out on all BNPLs. Affirm just landed a partnership with Amazon dude

what are top companies for cybersecurity, or top teams at FAANGs that do hardcore offensive vulnerability research, malware research and reverse engineering?
Crowdstrike, Zscaler as security firms. Google has the best security research team in FAANG (e.g. discovered Heartbleed and Spectre). I hear Square is very good too.
Microsoft security people are pretty solid I think. Check out some of their blogposts.
What is the interest with Uber and Lyft on blind? Are either profitable? What is the long term outlook of the stock price regardless of high quality engineering talent?
UBER will do well, with their diversification and product innovation. Do not know about LYFT.
I was interviewing with them and asked so many questions about profitability and direction. It sounds unanimously like everyone believes stock is undervalued, it will be profit very soon, and it’s good time to join now before stock upswings. Sadly I did not get call back but my roommate and his GF are both there and seem happy with their comp upside.
Self driving car companies?
None of them make any money and will not for the next 10 years.
Not what the question asks.
enterprise tools: Okta infrastructure: Nginx
Someone has to be an idiot to miss MSFT from this. 😡 we are not FAANG. Give us place here. 😅
Microsoft is old and big enough to be part of FAANG. Really MS should replace Netflix, which is a good stock but not really in the same category of the others, which are giants.
Thank you OP. I respect you from today.
Brex, figma
+1 on Brex. Brex and Plaid are probably the only fintech that has a good upside if you join now.
How about Ramp? Can they surpass Brex at this point?
Dropbox TC is definitely on par with all the companies you listed above and plus I doubt any of those has as good WLB as Dropbox has.
This ^^^
I'm sure Dropbox is respectable but you guys are just old and aren't hot anymore. It's like joining somewhere big and established like Yelp.
