Is a Senior Consultant role at Dell equivalent to a typical Senior Manager role or a Director role? Got an offer for senior con and was told initially that it was Sr Mgr equivalent but now they are saying it’s Dir level. Any insights would be appreciated.
Director level but an IC role, kind of parallel tracks
Interested in TC if you care to share. Which practise are you joining?
Corporate Strategy .. TC is $228k
No it’s not the same .... even in SC they have SC I, SC II, SC III. Long time ago I did a SC II role and it was not the same as director.
Could you share how many years work ex you had then? Will SCIII then be equivalent to Dir?
Did you join Dell
The roles and levels have two components: a letter designation (for example I or M) and a number (8,9, 10 etc). So across the company, Sr Consultant is an I10 and indicates and individual contributor. It's equivalent to an M10 Director who has people reporting to him or her. Compensation is different for people in the same band (largely depends on experience in grade and overall industry experience). But 225k for an I10 in Austin is very competitive
Thanks darksoul. That’s very insightful. This position is I10 and sounds like it’s equivalent to a Director with direct reports. Appreciate the insights
I10 is typically 160 to 190 base with 25% variable and about 50 % of that population will get some from of LTI ( similar to RSU but cash adjusted for performance ) TTC is typically in the 220 to 260 range
Which location are you referring to? Is this Austin or one of the coasts? 220-260 sounds on the higher side for TTC for Austin. Agreed on the 25%, but LTI is generally reserved for tech or engineering resources
We're in the Chicago market which I believe is the second highest behind the one that includes New York and the Bay.
Yes, makes sense
Very hard to move up from i10 to i11 even on the M track. Virtually impossible as an IC. That said. 225K TC is pretty good
Thanks. What is the title usually for i11?

The role is exactly what it states. If it's a Director equivalent it should say Director in the job title.
