The way GM is hiring (Quantity over Quality), Either layoffs are coming soon or GM is going down pretty soon.

  • I think the tech side is currently undergoing a massive NCH influx. If you're on the r/generalmotors reddit you'll see nearly every 3rd post is a NCH in either IT and SWE. I've got nothing against the push for more Software centric employees, or the new IT minimum wages, but goodness I hope these new kids bring some serious value to GM. they're just so green, corporate experience wise, and it seems from my non-software perspective that GM is just sucking up all possible new college grads without much real vetting on the off-chance one in 5 ends up being a real genius. Those NCH who are great will probably get raises, or promotions to retain them from the competition- and who's not really contributing to an autonomous future will be laid-off, or dragged at Cost-of-living raises till they quit.

    That's just my theory.

Something doesn't make sense in the amount of hiring and high salaries being paid out. I know at least few with 2 to 3 years of experience getting almost 100k as base

  • 110K base is not high for tech you have to pay the prevailing wage and tech is hot
