Received 2 offers, TDK invensense and analog devices. They are asking to reveal my competing offer should I do it? How do I play this game? MEMS process/integration/foundry relationship TC: 170k Yoe: 10yrs
So normally you should ask them to present an reasonable offer, without you telling them expectation. Then depending on which one is your preferred location, the steps are different in different scenarios. Plus you can ask to talk to hm to gauge how much they want you.
The HM gave me a range during the interview process, but the offer is closer to the lower end of that range, to push higher they need to see the competing offer
How does that compare to your current TC?
Thing is the best way to approach this, is to do some research on your position and possible TC. Don’t try to be asking more and more. It’s better to have a number in mind, raise it up by 10%. Then ask them about it. So say they gave you a range of 180k to 240k. And came back with 185k. But your current tc is 170k and expectation is about 220k. I’d say, I’m up for promotion next year and will be making about 190k but I know I’m still below market value. For this to make sense, I’d need to be around 240k. Also, I am in the offer stage with another company and will be interviewing with others too.
It's ~10% better tho the higher end of the range is about 30% better
What about the other company?
It's the same, but smaller company, and growing very fast, there is a potential for promotion in near future
The best response to HM salary expectation question I have heard was "make me an offer I can't refuse".
If you want to work on more exciting projects, I’d say work for Invensense. If you want more job security and better established processes (quality, reliability, etc) I would think AD would be better. I would focus more on the type of work than the money.
You do not have to say name of company I suppose.. What is your domain of work? Also can you provide tc breakdown
