Life at FB Seattle vs FB Menlo Park
I am supposed to join FB next year at E3 position. I was wondering what would be the better option FB Menlo Park or Seattle office. The compensation is the same at both the locations. I interned at the MPK office and found that California is way too big and except the city staying anywhere is boring.
FB Seattle is pretty nice but a lot of people get worn down by the constant overcast skies. You could try FB SF if you want to live in the city.
Seattle is cheaper and has mountains but weather is not amazing.
No income tax and rent is 50% cheaper in Seattle.
Go to Seattle and save more money
And be depressed
MPK is depressing as well tbh
Seattle is cool if you enjoy the outdoors. The winter isn’t depressing if you take up skiing and exercise regularly.
Trust me, choose MPK. Hq is better for career growth and Cali life is better than Seattle. Those extra 10% monies are not worth missing out everything in life
There’s no single campus. I have coworkers in Seattle being shuffled between buildings (and cities even) regularly due to reorgs. Not fun
See if you can do FB NYC. Half my team was in MPK and the other half was in NYC when I interned at FB and everyone in MPK seems to love the FB nyc lifestyle.
