I recently moved to Seattle area and I'm so bored I don't know what to do outside work. You feel me?...have you ever been bored? What are some of the hobbies that one can have to spice up life in general and make the best use of time? Thanks TC 258
Why? Why would you move there? I feel for you. Google "Seattle freeze" It's real.
What would you do in another city ? I've lived in Seattle for 20 years and haven't been bored yet but it really depends on what you're into ..
Do some outdoor snowshoeing or avalanche classes with REI, some of them go to breweries after
Get a group to play boardgames with at Mox/Teku/another bar, join a book club, go on a hike, go skiing outside the city, find a class to take (forging, leatherworking, sailing), do some brewery tours, go fishing, walk around the market on the weekends and find new recipes to try. As an adult, your boredom is completely up to you.
I regret moving here. I want to go back to CA.

I spent 2 years in Seattle and it was... not great. I visited many times for pleasure and business in previous roles and had relatively reasonable expectations, or so I thought. Seattle Freeze/Northwest Nice is definitely a thing. Ended up escaping the area nearly every weekend instead towards the end. Like other people said the outdoors are amazing and beautiful (if you're into that), but it's not a very welcoming metro region from a social aspect. Any friends I did end up making were not from Seattle either. An awesome city to visit but an underwhelming place to live. Some bright spots for me have been the museums (the National Nordic Museum in Ballard is exceptional) and the ferry system.
Seattle used to be a quiet and beautiful city 5 years ago until tech companies got all voracious for office space and destroyed downtown for everyone. Just 5 years ago, a 1 bed cost $1.1-1.2k in downtown and the same as gone up to $2k at the minimum. I personally know people who have been priced out and have nowhere to go. Even UDistrict, one of the affordable locations is going to become expensive after the light rail arrives there. Seattle unfortunately did not learn from the mistakes of SF and many people are considering moving out now.
To where? And why?

Seattle's great for outdoorsy stuff (which sucks cuz it rains half the year). Go hike a trail, climb a mountain, or go skiing. There's cool things downtown but that's about it for things to do that won't get repetitive
And by Seattle I mean Washington state
