Amidst, all this media roar about uber's culture. How is the life of senior sde at uber both from career growth and money perspective? Thanks!
I’ve been a senior SDE at uber for a few years and I love it. Ever since the salary adjustments, I consider the pay to be very fair, especially for a growth company.
Uber is definitely easier.
What they said.
Imo the eng experience at Uber did an almost complete about face since the beginning of 2017. In early 2017 “before the events” productivity was everything, stacked curve was a thing and most EMs were inexperienced/unprepared. Since then we’ve redefined performance, got rid of stacked curve and EMs got lots of training + support. Things are looking up
This effort to grade on productivity has led to a lot of shitty code
Career growth = uber better than Amazon. Money perspective = amazon might be better just in present. Noone seen the future
Sounds great. I love Uber, yall rock.
Thank you all for sharing your experiences and insights.
If you come from Amazon, your career growth at Uber should be better.

Having worked at Amazon I can tell you it's very similar but it is more relaxed at Uber now in terms of work life balance. YMMV depending on the team
