Congratulations! Can you tell me the interview process and any tips for the interview?

It was pretty easy. I think the system design round is important. Do well in that.

How was the interview process?

LinkedIn Eng is one of the best in the industry, especially in domain of analytics and big data processing. Look at tons of contributions coming from Linkeind to open source projects in this domain. Don't think twice. Embrace the opportunity.

Why one of the best in industry? I feel strength of LinkedIn is culture/WLB, but the internal tooling is poor.

Interesting, thanks!

Yes, its the same org. Engineering talent is top notch and open source is the way of life. Teams like Gobblin, Azkaban, Pinot, Hadoop directly work on open source code base (no internal forks). Lot of exciting work is happening across all of the teams (new greenfield initiatives, cloud, and more). You can't go wrong. Disclaimer: I am biased since I am from this org.

What are the skillsets required to get in? How's the wlb and culture?

LinkedIn fooss Jul 9, 2019

We have standard interview process for Systems Infra track. It consists of coding (leetcode style), design (with focus on distributed systems, large scale systems), craftsmanship and host manager rounds. WLB is balanced, with work week of ~40 hours (some folks invest more time for personal growth, open source community engagements, or accelerating personal growth). Culture weighs heavily on transparency, craftsmanship (if code is directly being committed in open source, we don't want it to look shabby ;) ), leadership and execution. Things are driven bottoms up (eg. most of features or major work done in Gobblin, Azkaban, Pinot were proposed by engineers). Managers and higher ups democratize decisions, share quite a bit of context behind strategy decisions. Promo process are quarterly and committee driven (Staff and above), promo packets are made public on wiki. Sr. Staff and Principal Staff are accessible and are quite open to mentorship. We have monthly InDays (it is themed, and folks indulge in personal projects, interests or fun activities like hikes), quarterly R&D breakpoint parties, bunch of org specific parties, weekly happy hours, etc. Food (that is consistently rated the best in valley) across 5 cafes in MV / Sunnyvale HQ. Tldr: LinkedIn is very employee focussed.
