170 in SunnyVale? That's below the poverty line

why are Microsoft employees so bitter? I bet his base is higher than your total comp.

Microsoft Bannanas OP Sep 16, 2017

Actually MSFT total comp is not far off, I'm currently at ~235K

Wait msft->linkedin? Is it still possible to get an increase when move?

Microsoft Bannanas OP Sep 16, 2017

Yes, candidates are considered external hires

LinkedIn azizansari Sep 16, 2017

I don't think s/he is moving. No lateral move is possible. She must have interviewed with Linkedin

This is a strong and fair market rate for a senior backend engineer in the SV. It of course depends on how you stack up against others, is your skill set unique in any way followed by how you interviewed...These are all considered in the offer stage. It's important like every other role to remember not all engineers or employees are created equal. Thankfully their is still a meritocracy for now at least..

Do senior mobile devs earn less then backend devs?

LinkedIn Cateyes👀 Sep 18, 2017

No around the same.. again it depends on the engineer. All engineers are not created equal. I say that again because for some reason engineers think a certain level means a certain offer. You may clear an interview but doesn't mean you knocked it out of the park.

Microsoft Fefefe Sep 16, 2017

How was the interview?

Microsoft Bannanas OP Sep 16, 2017

Like most companies I interviewed at. Medium LeetCode coding questions, behavioral, technical communication round, and system design

Microsoft Fefefe Sep 16, 2017

Were all the coding questions tagged under LinkedIn ?

Just curious what is so great about LinkedIn? Lots of people here seem to think highly of them, but their product is pretty uninspiring IMO. is it just good pay and culture that people like?

Microsoft Harry Bird Sep 16, 2017

Free food

Microsoft JesusIsB Sep 16, 2017

The product doesn't even work half the time. LinkedIn is a pretty shitty website. I guess for now it's just the pay that makes it attractive

Decent offer
