Hello friends, Last week I gave my LinkedIn phone interview and I did answer all the questions. My interviewer was really happy and at the end of the call he even told that hopefully he sees me joining LinkedIn. Yesterday, I heard back from my recruiter and he said that the Hiring committee has decided not to move forward with my candidature. I wanted to know from you all that can number of years of experience be a rejection factor? For example my recruiter pushed me for a senior software position but my experience is still ~1.5 years. I don’t know if the Hiring committee takes all this into account or is it just the interview feedback. I know that my interviewer didn’t have any questions to ask in the end and he was happy with the way I solved the asked question. Am I wrong in judging myself? I have started doubting my own intutions on how one feels when your interview gets over. I’m still wondering why a reject then? 😪 I even asked a feedback from my recruiter but he didn’t reply back. Thoughts?
Prob another interviewer didn’t like you. It only takes a single interviewer to say no to reject.
It was just one round and one interviewer !
Tough luck and just move on. It’s not going to change anything and you have nothing to prove either given where you work! Interviews are subjective and will not always reflect how good a candidate is. Not the end of the world and just keep trying.
Same things happened to me. They have asked easy algorithms and solve all of them with all corner cases. All looks satisfied with my answer. But got mail from recruiter that technical side issue. I really don’t understand. I should record session and send to them.
Probably your are too good for LinkedIn and after hiring you their team will be exposed.

Hi! Even if the interviewer liked you, hiring committee reviews the feedback and will determine if they would like to move forward. 1.5 YOE is not Sr.Swe, even for the basic qualifications so that may have been the reason why. They may have down leveled you but given we do not have any Swe openings that would be why you were rejected.

How can I find success dating in NYC
They rejected you because their ass was sweating too much. No, I'm serious. Always factor in "luck" to your interviewing process. It is quite common, especially in the bay area to reject for no performance reasons
