I’ve had the same employer for 5 years, so I only recently started building my LinkedIn and plan on applying to FAANG soon. Anyone with a knack for LinkedIn profiles willing to have a look and provide feedback? Either dm me or leave a comment here. I will dm. Would really appreciate it.
Get recommendations from people who you reported or in higher leadership
I’ve been wondering how much these recommendations matter. I’ve always seen personal references as a rubber stamp since you’re likely only going to ask people you’re close to. I also haven’t seen that many people with recommendations on LinkedIn but maybe thats just my network.
Like I said, recommendations from friends or peers doesn’t make much of a difference. You need to identity key people in the organization, your lead or manager or a directory/VP level if you have interacted with them on a critical project. Putting the skills for endorsements is one thing, but recommendations have more credibility, which is like someone acknowledging the fact you are proficient in that area.
- good picture - good headline - right keywords and specify years in summary - top skills (you can choose 3) put the ones for the position you want to get in - show career progression in experience
Sure I don’t have much experience but I got recruited through it and still get contacted by recruiters
