LinkedIn Senior Software Engineer offer comp

Long-time lurker here, greetings! Recently got an offer with LinkedIn but it hasn't yet made it to the compensation committee (team matching is done though). HR asked if I had any expectations but I responded with a plain "I expect you to make me the strongest offer you can ;)" to which they cutely quipped that if I don't set expectations the committee could arrive at a number that is immutable. 3 things:

1. is the immutability part bs? (I suspect so)
2. is there any value in providing a number right now (seeing that they will convene tomorrow)?
3. what kind of ballpark comp should I be looking at? perhaps the recruiter really played me up in my conversations with him but I have reason to believe I did really well (mutual perception)

Any insight would be much appreciated!
