I had a recruiter reach out recently that said LinkedIn marked my profile as 'may be open to changing jobs', their exact words. Is this true? If so, what data goes into this? Private messages?

I haven't changed my status at all and dont do much on LinkedIn besides nicely responding to recruiters with disinterest.

it’s a new feature released by linkedin based on avg time employees with the same job profile spend at a company.
So if you have 3 years experience as a software engineer but the avg swe employment length at the company is 2.5 years, linkedin’s recruiter interface will mention on your profile that you may be open to a change based on the departure data.
It’s a pretty new feature so perhaps the recruiter wasnt aware of it and assumed it’s similar to when you individually mention: open to work.

I see. That makes sense, I'm very likely past the Amazon average tenure for my position

  • Well you work at Amazon. When you hit the 1/2 year anniversary, hoards of recruiters will converge on you.
