Why is our country owned by Israel? I don't want my tax dollars fund genocide. How can we stop this nonsense?
It seems mostly from sales and hiring. 10 weeks of severance pay. Not sure if engineering is affected. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/21/linkedin-cuts-960-jobs-as-pandemic-puts-the-brakes-on-corporate-hiring.html
Unclear, the source says ājobs will be cut across LinkedInās Global Sales and Talent Acquisitions organizationsā. Sounds like mostly sales and recruiting roles. Since theyāre joining two of their business lines together, that will probably be a large engineering effort to merge systems.
Iām out of the loop. What business lines are they merging?
They arenāt merging sales navigator and recruiting tools, they are just laying off sales people and recruiting, big difference.
Instead the lay offs should have been done from talent acquisition at Microsoft- redundant talent acquisition folks there
I guess most of them aren't Microsoft employees in the US. Most the ones I see are like "Neal Analytics" and a bunch of other random vendor companies But yeah they probably get paid too much in commission for what they do and can be culled
Microsoftās recruiters are mostly contractors unlike LinkedIn.
Fuck I would love 10 weeks paid holiday
They also got to keep the laptops, cobra 12 month, stock vest for aug
Cobra is not cheap. Not sure if they subsidize it but you are looking paying$1500 a month
Engineering not affected.
Engineering is next
Why though? They still gotta keep that platform going, millions use it
Is this what was meant last week when Blind was talking about the rumored Microsoft layoffs??
No. Do some research and you'll see MS laid off some too from articles.
MS layoffs affected engineers, doesn't seem like it's the same for LI but it probably isn't a coincidence that this is happening shortly after Microsoft announced theirs
Time we all get back to work, and wrap up shelter in place. The consequences are just terrible. How many more people are gonna have to keep on losing their job?
Fix the health crisis first.

Relax, it's the other MS's child.

I thought LinkedIn was safe because of Microsoft. Whatās happening
Microsoft has not shown signs of being safe. It's easy to dismiss the retail stores shutting down (as we've all seen them empty), but there's too many rumors of shakeups and layoffs.
Wasn't there minor layoffs in MSFT as well?
Just curious, how is LinkedIn impacted by COVID-19? Instead people are more actively looking for jobs on linkedin (atleast the ones laid off). How is LinkedIn business impacted?
No layoffs in Engineering. Sales and Talent acquisition teams are affected.
That's a lot of recruiters and sellers to let go
