Today I tried to refer one of my friend for a job posted in LinkedIn for LinkedIn engineering. Hiring manager told me that this job posted by mistake and took it out after some time .. wtf is going on ?
This has happened to me with another company, so I’m wondering the same thing. How common is this?
This has happened with me as well. The recruiter told me that the job gets reposted automatically after its initial posting expires. In my case the recruiter said she had no idea that the job posting was even existing. Not sure what the truth is.
Her explanation makes sense. It’s automated and obviously if someone doesn’t catch it, then it can re-post when that job isn’t open.
For me, they clearly told “accidentally posted”, but not so convinced with their reply. Even it took few hours for them to reply back
They probably need to show that the job was advertised to the public before they decided on a hire.
Sometimes job postings get catfished by referral agencies too, so that when you apply they resell your candidacy to the actual company. Really hard to see if it’s fake, but most likely companies won’t admit to being catfished
Likely H1-B job posting, they need to list it publicly to show there's no qualified person in US hence the government should issue their employee a visa. Previous employer listed the job openings in the local newspaper since pretty much close to 0% software engineers look for jobs there.
If that is true then I’m all for H1B reform. We need to stop this abuse.
Not for h1b. That’s a requirement for green card (perm) application. They post it for 30 days and interview every US citizen and green card holder who applies.
It could also be when a contractor gets converted to full-time, recruiters will open a new job listing on LinkedIn and they must apply to the job directly on the site
Wow
