LinkedIn or Pinterest

I have an offer from Pinterest but found out today LinkedIn wants to move forward with an offer. Pinterest L4: TC 270 + 15 Signing LinkedIn: TBD I liked the team and people I met at Pinterest. LinkedIn I don't like how they use Ember. What would you chose assuming TC are same. Edit: A lot of people saying LI, would love to hear more reasons why. Pinterest culture seems really cool.

Yea LinkedIn is a total Ember shop. They brought in the creator a while back

Go for Pinterest in my honest opinion.

The framework is already moving toward to become more vanilla JS friendly. It’s just that our app is huge and it will takes a while for us to get there but I know some smaller teams have already start using it. Codemods can only do so much. I’d say it’s actually not too far from React if you give it some time.

I think at Pinterest career growth is faster than Linkedin ( hard to go from Senior to Staff )

Voted for Pinterest. You wouldn't want to work with Ember i.e. learn a non-transferrable technology. Most of the major companies use React/are starting to adopt React, I would say go with Pinterest, things you learn there would be more marketable IMO.

Congrats! How long after your onsite did Pinterest get back to you with an offer?

Like two three days if I remember correctly. Pretty fast.

LinkedIn was fast too. I interviewed Friday and heard back Monday after I told them I needed a quick answer

I've had 7 years. But was a consultant most of my career. This would be my first role as a pure software engineer.

Nice, congrats! How did you prep for these interviews? Were these the only two companies you interviewed at?

LinkedIn sjebdj Oct 8, 2019

I would say go with Pinterest. On LinkedIn, you can find tons of people who moved from LinkedIn to Pinterest but you won't find many who made reverse move. That does tell something that Pinterest is a better place.

I personally favor Pins. But you may say that to Google, FB, Amazon or any much bigger companies...

Pinterest at least has cool tech of categorizing things out of image recognition and organizing data. LinkedIn is Facebook 2.0 for workaholics and people who share memes. It’s also used by HR for hiring which is just spam for everyone that’s not even looking for work. Do you really need a poll for this?

The Poll disagrees with us lol. Also, I wouldn't be on the product team at Pinterest. I'd be working on their safety tools. LinkedIn Id be working on their learning discovery initiatives which is more public facing.

Walmart QXHR44 Oct 9, 2019

Public facing is too much work tbh. You’re on the hook and on call if things go wrong. At least with internal tools you get to chill out more.
