I’m 2 yoe, get LinkedIn offer and the interview experience is amazing, the team is infra track with solid tech where I think I could learn a lot. While Google experience is sooo lengthy and just around the corner of passing HC, but it’s so suffering thus I’ve almost lost interest, because after HC there’ll be team match, compensation negotiation blabla. I don’t know why Google would adopt such a recruiting model? Anyway so should I accept LinkedIn offer? My concern: 1 I’m not in Bay Area, so I’m not that clear about remote work policy. What’s the chance that LinkedIn employees are expected to RTO on 2022? As junior new-hire, can I expect to be approved remote if I ramp up quickly and have good relationship with manager? 2 Prestige. To me I think LinkedIn is certainly prestigious. However now job market is so hot, and I’m sooo hardworking, thus I’m a little disappointed I’m not making into Google/FB. So should I continue interview? What are brand-name companies whose prestige lie between LinkedIn and Google that I could take a try?
LinkedIn TC?
Share offers
What's the offer?
TC or GTFO
Why not just wait for Google? finish both and choose the best, ask the recruiter to expedite but honestly, you'll be fine either path
Offer is NOT good for a year. Am offer at G requires 2 main parts - HC approval AND team match. Team match is unlikely to be good for longer than a few weeks.
I mean HC is valid for a year? Just re-do team match?
LI TC?
Linkedin beat google in pay/wlb/career. The only reason ppl leave is politics and no guaranteed refreshes, so get ready to jump ship in 3-4 years if you’re not satisfied with any of those things.
Prepare to jump ship in another 3-4 years if you join LinkedIn. Very less refreshers and too much politics. You can rest and vest though easily for 3-4 years. Senior to Staff is a lot of politics and luck. Not worth fighting for in my opinion especially when you get so less refreshers even with promotion. Good people usually jump ship after 3-4 years Also, prestige wise Google has much more value than LinkedIn especially for early stages of career. No one writes ex-LinkedIn on their linkedin profile, but a lot of people write ex-Google or ex-Facebook Also, give Facebook interviews if you haven’t already. They have a very fast interviewing process
Thx but I’ve already been rejected by Facebook L4. So close. Anyway I’m not fan of fb culture
LinkedIn beats Google in every aspect. Pay , Culture and perks too. You won’t feel the need to switch because your pay will be among top of the market. After couple of years at Google. You would be wrestles again because your pay would be lower than what market is offering
Culture wise they are similar? But Google is everyone’s dream... for junior engineers, such prestige matters?
I don’t think LinkedIn offers you any less benefit. Btw Google is hiring more often so prestige will decrease automatically as number of hires increases because that’s how human brain is wired. People think if lot of people are able to join any firm then it is less prestigious. Whereas the thing is if a company is hiring more than it is growing more and needs more manpower to take it forward. But company with limited product like LinkedIn needs limited people. So, more resources to spend on people thus a better culture and good pay. Let the GCP pick up. Then you will see Bulk of people flocking to Google to live their Google dream lol
