Got a verbal confirmation but for Software Engineer role, was interviewed for Senior Software Engineer. Got a team match but not really motivated because of this. I am currently SDE-2 with 7 years of exp and MS degree in CS. What are my chances to negotiate? Currently in the middle of interview process with other companies and may take a couple of weeks to get offer decision.

I joined as swe with 2.3 years of experience and MS degree. After joining I realized young kids with BS degree are senior with 1.5 years of experience. I regret not negotiating for level though I got really good offer. With 7 years of experience, joining as swe is bad decision. Recruiter will tell you that you will be promoted in 6months which is bull shit.
If you aren’t interested at SWE then reject. If you didn’t perform at Sr.SWE level on the onsite there’s isn’t much to negotiate.... the leveling decision is ultimately based on your performance regardless of how many years of experience or degrees you have. And odds are, you will get similar levels at most of the other major tech companies. Regardless of what “level” they want to call them, your compensation will most likely be around the same. Levels.fyi isn’t 100% accurate. LinkedIn has ranges instead of levels 1-10 which make people feel like they’re more senior level.
Don't take bs from this above guy from LI. Slightly screw up of one interview can lower your level in LI but that is not guaranteed at other interviews as well. I have found HR and managers to be dishonest with hiring process. The above person might be manager as well.
I agree.. it’s not always based on performance... they try to get high experience people for cheap at lower levels.. this is one way of getting more value from an employee and pay them less... many times they take advantage of ur need for switch .. if you are worthy of senior position, reject the normal ones and keep preparing and interviewing at other companies. Managers benefit a lot when people like you join at normal positions... they get higher value addition at the cost of normal SWE.
Don’t join .... this will have a career impact ...prepare well and get a senior position somewhere else
