Hi everybody! I was wondering what is your experience with running Linux in companies that have ISO/SOC2/etc... certifications or are simply strict when it comes to security. Are you permitted to run Linux natively on your work laptops or maybe in a VM? O maybe is a cloud-based machine your only option? Do you need to use Windows or Macs? What is the common practice? So far I have came across two such companies. One required you to run Windows, but you were free to do whatever you needed in a VM. Other was not permitting any Linux and virtualization software except for the ones provisioned by IT-department in a cloud. TC: 100k Eur
It is way more secure for a company to ensure their endpoint software can drive software/package updates and block endpoints with risky activity/unpatched software as needed. I think it is a good idea to have company provisioned virtualization installs as taking care of vulnerabilities, ransomware, etc. is so challenging in large enterprise environments.
@1Name4Evaa - added my TC. Are we best friends for life now?
Yes. Forever and ever. Now can you loan me some money since we are best friends? 😊
Of course, please send me your credit card number, CCV, expiry and name on it in DM and I will transfer them to you. Promise!
